Five people, including two adults and three juveniles, were electrocuted during a Sunday afternoon gathering at a private swimming pool in Logansport, Indiana, Fox News reports.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of High Street.

Local police reported that all five victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries, with two of the juveniles requiring further care at different medical facilities.

A spokesperson for the Logansport Police Department described the incident as a tragic anomaly. Initial investigations revealed that the cause was related to a faulty pool pump. According to police, a wire on the pump had become pinched, leading to the breaking of a protective cover. This exposed wire subsequently came into contact with the pool water, resulting in the electric shock that affected the swimmers.

Logansport is located in northern Indiana, approximately 90 minutes north of Indianapolis.
