Iranian Investigation Finds Climatic Conditions Caused Fatal Helicopter Crash That Killed Iran’s President Raisi

An official investigation into the helicopter crash that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and seven others in May has concluded that challenging climatic and atmospheric conditions were the primary cause of the accident, CNN reports.

Iranian state TV reported on Sunday that the final report of the Supreme Board of the General Staff of the Armed Forces attributed the crash to the “complex climatic conditions” prevalent in the region during springtime.

The report specifically cited the sudden appearance of dense fog rising upwards as the helicopter collided with a mountain in a remote northwestern Iranian area.

The investigation found no evidence of sabotage or technical failure in the helicopter’s parts or systems.

President Raisi, along with his Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and six other people, perished in the crash.
