The US Army is investigating the death of Lt. Col. Joshua Camara, a public affairs officer stationed at Camp Kościuszko in Poland. Camara, 45, died on Tuesday, September 3, Fox News reports.

Camara, who had served in V Corps since June 2024, was the recipient of numerous military awards including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.

While the US Army has not released details surrounding Camara’s death, Polish news outlet TVP World reported that he was found deceased in an apartment following a military police raid of an apartment block near Camp Kościuszko.

The report, which cited Deputy District Prosecutor for Military Affairs in Poznań, Colonel Bartosz Okoniewski, identified the deceased as a “senior officer” without naming him. Okoniewski stated that the evidence points to “unintentional manslaughter” rather than murder.

The US Army has not confirmed the details of the TVP World report.
