Billionaire Koh Wee Meng, through his companies Fragrance Group and Global Premium Hotels, is set to expand his hotel portfolio with the opening of three new hotels in Singapore by 2027.
These new developments, adding 1,347 rooms, come as the hospitality industry gears up for a post-pandemic travel boom. Upon completion, Koh’s total number of hotel rooms will rise to 3,547 across 28 hotels.
The largest of the new projects is Mövenpick Singapore, located in Tanjong Pagar near the Raffles Place central business district. With 808 rooms, it will be the biggest Mövenpick hotel in the Asia-Pacific region. Alongside it, a 37-room Mövenpick Living Singapore will cater to long-term business and leisure travelers.
In late 2025, a 502-room Handwritten Collection hotel will open on Waterloo Street, known for its proximity to Singapore’s cultural and shopping hub. This will be the second Handwritten Collection property in Singapore, following the successful launch of Hotel Faber Park.
All three hotels will be managed by French hospitality chain Accor, continuing a long-standing partnership between Accor and Koh’s companies. Accor’s Chief Operating Officer for Asia, Garth Simmons, emphasized Singapore’s importance as a business and tourism hub, and expressed excitement about expanding the company’s presence in the region.
Koh, who started his hotel business in the mid-1990s, remains focused on delivering unique guest experiences.
“These new properties will allow us to continue curating enriching experiences for our guests,” he said in a statement.
With a current net worth of $1.6 billion, the bulk of Koh’s fortune remains tied to his hotel ventures in Singapore, Australia, and the UK.
