Liz Cheney, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, will join Vice President Kamala Harris at a campaign event in Wisconsin on Thursday, The Associated Press reports.

The event, held at a historic white schoolhouse in Ripon, where the Republican Party was founded, aims to reach out to moderate voters and directly challenge Trump’s hold on the GOP.

Cheney, who served as the top Republican on the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021 insurrection, lost her Wyoming seat to a Trump-endorsed candidate in 2022. Her public defiance of Trump, which led to her political exile within her own party, culminated in her endorsement of Harris last month.

The event is part of a broader strategy for Harris, who will continue her tour of key battleground states with a campaign rally in Flint, Michigan on Friday.

Meanwhile, Trump will be holding a rally in Saginaw County, Michigan, on Thursday, focusing on his continued efforts to regain control of the “blue wall” states that were crucial to Biden’s victory in 2020.

Trump has ramped up his focus on Michigan, holding two rallies there in the past week. His victory in Saginaw County by a slim 303 votes in 2020 was a pivotal moment in his overall victory in the state.
