Trump Rallies Supporters in Butler, Pa., One Month Before Election

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump returned to the site of a July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, rallying supporters in the key swing state just one month before Election Day, Bloomberg reports.

“I return to Butler in the aftermath of tragedy and heartache to deliver a simple message to the people of Pennsylvania and to the people of America,” Trump told the crowd. “Our movement,” he said, “is nearer to victory than ever before.”

Trump invited billionaire Elon Musk to join him on stage, calling him “a truly incredible guy.”

“This is the most important election of our lifetime,” Musk said in his first onstage appearance with Trump in the campaign. “President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America.”

The rally, held at the Butler Farm Show fairgrounds, drew thousands of supporters and prominent figures, including hedge-fund billionaire John Paulson, a major Trump donor. Trump’s aides have stated that the open-air setting energizes the candidate.

With the race against Vice President Kamala Harris tightening, Trump focused his speech on Pennsylvania, a critical battleground state.

Musk’s appearance at the rally underscores the tech mogul’s growing support for Trump, following a pro-Trump super PAC launch in May and a public endorsement after the July assassination attempt.

The rally was held under heightened security measures, including protective glass shielding Trump and the presence of security drones and a sniper.
