Hollywood star Keanu Reeves traded the silver screen for the speedway this weekend, competing in the Toyota GR Cup at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, CNN reports.

The “Matrix” actor, known for his on-screen action roles, took on a new challenge, putting his foot on the pedal in the amateur-focused racing series for car enthusiasts and aspiring racers.

Reeves, driving the No. 92 BRZRKR car – a nod to his graphic novel “The Book of Elsewhere” – finished 25th in Saturday’s Race 1 and 24th in Sunday’s Race 2 out of 33 competitors. Saturday’s race saw Reeves spin out into the grass just past the halfway point, but he managed to avoid a collision and re-entered the race unscathed.

His teammate during Saturday’s event was Cody Jones, star of the popular YouTube channel “Dude Perfect.”

Reeves’ passion for racing isn’t new. In 2009, he won the celebrity racing event at the Long Beach Toyota Grand Prix.

This weekend’s racing coincides with the 30th anniversary of “Speed,” the action-packed film starring Reeves alongside Sandra Bullock.
