PepsiCo is refreshing the look of its popular Mountain Dew beverage with a new logo and design set to debut in the summer of 2025.
The redesign brings back the full spelling of “Mountain” on cans and bottles, marking a return to the brand’s rustic roots after nearly two decades of using the abbreviated “Mtn Dew.”
The updated look includes a larger logo and a background featuring treelined landscapes, replacing the sharp, angular design that has been associated with Mountain Dew since 2009. The new visual identity aims to evoke the outdoors, with bright, citrus-inspired colors that reflect the beverage’s fruity flavor. PepsiCo’s design team hopes the redesign will capture the experience of “drinking a can of Dew in the sunshine with friends.”
“We’re excited for fans to see the new Mountain Dew, which includes an updated logo that embodies the brand’s origins and a refreshed outdoor aesthetic,” said Mauro Porcini, PepsiCo’s senior vice president and chief design officer.
The new logo will also feature a nod to the brand’s founding year, 1948, and a citrus leaf to dot the “i” in “Mountain.”
The redesign is part of PepsiCo’s strategy to reconnect with Mountain Dew’s roots and appeal to a broader audience, including long-time fans, millennials, and Gen Z consumers. The new look was well-received during testing, according to Umi Patel, PepsiCo’s vice president of consumer insights and analytics.
This visual overhaul follows Mountain Dew’s recent introduction of “the Mountain Dude,” a TV character urging people to embrace the outdoors. The rebranding comes at a critical time as Mountain Dew faces declining sales in North America, with demand for sugary sodas shifting toward healthier alternatives like sparkling water and hydration beverages.
PepsiCo’s decision to reinvigorate the brand is seen as a way to stay competitive in a challenging beverage market.
