Renowned economist and Bloomberg’s top US forecaster, David Barraud, has boldly predicted a Trump victory in the upcoming election, with Republicans taking control of both the Senate and House of Representatives, New York Post reports.

Barraud, known for his uncanny accuracy in predicting US economic trends for over a decade, sees this outcome as the “most likely scenario.” He expects a significant boost to the US GDP, potentially reaching 2.1% to 2.3% in 2025, if Republicans hold sway in Washington.

However, Barraud warns of a potential risk associated with a Trump win: a drastic reduction in taxes without a corresponding plan to fund it, leading to an explosive increase in the national deficit. He foresees the 10-year Treasury Bond yield jumping to 4.5% under a Trump presidency, further rising to 5% in the near future.

Despite the potential for increased fiscal woes, Barraud remains optimistic about the overall US economic outlook. He believes a Trump presidency will likely outperform most consensus forecasts, which predict GDP growth of 2.6% in 2024 and 1.8% in 2025.

While Barraud anticipates a Trump win, the election remains a tight race, with recent polls showing a close contest between the two candidates. Historian Dr. Allan Lichtman, known as the “election Nostradamus” for his successful prediction track record, is betting on Vice President Kamala Harris to clinch the presidency.

Famed polling data guru Nate Silver, however, feels otherwise, with his gut leaning towards a Trump victory. The US election is just eight days away, leaving the country on the edge of its seat as the race to the White House reaches its climax.
