Two Arrested Following High-Speed Police Chase from Utah to Wyoming

A Utah man and his female passenger were apprehended in Wyoming on Friday after leading police on a pursuit that crossed state lines.

The incident began in Daggett County, Utah, when a sheriff’s deputy recognized the suspects’ Chevrolet Silverado, which bore a counterfeit license plate, from a previous traffic stop in Manila on State Route 43.

According to a booking affidavit, the driver, identified as 53-year-old Garth Stringer, initially complied when stopped but then refused to provide his license, registration, or proof of insurance. When questioned, Stringer reportedly said, “We are not going to do this again,” before fleeing the scene and setting off a chase. The pursuit, led by Daggett County deputies and eventually involving Wyoming law enforcement, continued onto Wyoming Highway 414.

The chase concluded when authorities deployed spike strips to disable Stringer’s truck. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded firearm on the driver’s side floor, according to reports from KSLTV.

Stringer and his passenger, 41-year-old Brittany Stephenson, were detained and transported to Uinta County Jail in Wyoming. Both face charges related to the incident.
