A 15-year-old Casper resident was tragically struck and killed by a semi-truck on Interstate 25 on the night of November 6, according to a crash summary from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), K2 Radio reports.

The incident occurred near milepost 191.1 around 9:14 p.m.

The report states that the juvenile attempted to cross the northbound lanes of I-25, moving east to west, when they were struck by a southbound Peterbilt semi. At the time of the accident, road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear, factors that did not contribute to the tragic outcome.

The events leading up to the accident began hours earlier when the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) received a report of a domestic disturbance at approximately 7:30 p.m. According to NCSO, the juvenile reportedly assaulted a family member and fled the residence on foot. They were later sighted on I-25 before attempting to cross the highway.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. In the meantime, the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit is providing support and resources to both the juvenile’s family and the driver of the semi-truck.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
