A tragic explosion at a Givaudan SA production facility in Louisville, Kentucky, has resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries, Bloomberg reports.

The Swiss flavor and fragrance giant confirmed the incident in a statement, expressing deep sorrow for the victims and their families.

The company is currently investigating the cause of the explosion and cooperating fully with first responders and local authorities. Givaudan assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to those in the immediate vicinity or the surrounding community, citing statements from city officials.

The company is also in contact with people whose homes and buildings near the factory have been affected by the explosion.

Shares of Givaudan traded down 2.2% in Zurich on Wednesday following the news.
