Whitney Wesaw receives 142-day prison sentence followed by supervised release, Oil City News reports.

Whitney Wesaw, a 25-year-old resident of Fort Washakie, has been sentenced to 142 days in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for her involvement in the distribution of fentanyl and aiding and abetting drug trafficking.

The sentencing was handed down on December 12 by US District Court Judge Kelly H. Rankin in Cheyenne. The charges stemmed from an investigation earlier this year on the Wind River Reservation.

According to court documents, agents with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) conducted a series of controlled purchases from known and suspected drug dealers in the area. On January 17, agents successfully purchased fentanyl from Wesaw, which led to further investigation and subsequent charges.

Wesaw was indicted on July 18, and after legal proceedings, she received her sentence this month. As part of her punishment, she will face three years of supervised release following her 142-day term of incarceration.
