Former President Bill Clinton was discharged from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on Tuesday after receiving treatment for the flu, Bloomberg reports, citing his spokesperson.

“He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received,” said spokesman Angel Ureña in a post on X. “He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all.”

The 78-year-old former president was admitted to the hospital on Monday afternoon after developing a fever, prompting testing and observation. Ureña had previously reported that Clinton was in “good spirits” while hospitalized.

This recent health scare is not the first for Clinton since leaving office in 2001. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and was hospitalized for six days in 2021 due to an infection. He also tested positive for Covid-19 in 2022, experiencing what he described as “mild” symptoms.

Despite these health challenges, Clinton has remained active in politics. Earlier this year, he was a prominent figure on the campaign trail, supporting President Joe Biden and later Vice President Kamala Harris after she became the Democratic nominee. He delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and traveled to key swing states to rally support for Harris.
