A fatal collision involving a wrong-way driver occurred late Saturday night on Interstate 80 near Rawlins, Wyoming, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, KGAB AM 650 reports.

The crash happened around 11:34 p.m. on January 25 at milepost 232, approximately three miles west of Walcott Junction and 17 miles east of the Rawlins East Interchange.

Authorities say 46-year-old Mihai Priala, a Washington resident, was driving a Ford F-150 westbound in the eastbound passing lane when he collided head-on with a semi-truck. The semi was reportedly in the process of passing another truck when the collision occurred.

Despite being buckled up, Priala did not survive the crash. The driver of the semi was unharmed.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has not identified any contributing factors in the crash at this time.

Priala’s death marks the second fatality on Interstate 80 in Wyoming so far this year. Authorities continue to investigate the incident while urging motorists to remain vigilant and cautious on the state’s roadways.
