Musk Advocates for Streamlined Government, Hints at New Tech Projects at Dubai Summit
Elon Musk, speaking at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, offered his perspective on the Trump administration’s focus on efficiency and restructuring within the US government, The Associated Press reports.
Musk, who now leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), emphasized the importance of prioritizing resources and streamlining operations.
Musk highlighted a need to “delete entire agencies” to address bureaucratic inefficiencies and ensure taxpayer dollars are used effectively, aligning with the Trump administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility. He emphasized a need for foundational changes to prevent redundancies and ensure lasting improvements in governmental operations.
In line with the administration’s focus on internal affairs, Musk suggested a shift towards a less interventionist foreign policy, stating the US should “mind its own business, rather than push for regime change all over the place.” He cited the Trump administration’s assessment of programs like USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy, framing it as a renewed commitment to prioritizing American interests and ensuring tangible results from government spending.
Musk acknowledged the administration’s efforts to promote meritocracy by focusing on eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, suggesting these resources could be better allocated to initiatives that deliver demonstrable benefits for all Americans.
On technological advancements, Musk previewed upcoming developments from his companies. He announced that a new version of X’s AI chatbot, Grok 3, is expected to be released soon. He also referenced his concerns about AI development, highlighting the importance of responsible innovation and ethical considerations in the rapidly evolving field. He said AI should be made to have more common sense.
Adding to the excitement, Musk hinted at a potential “Dubai Loop” project similar to his work with the Boring Company in Las Vegas, which could revolutionize transportation within the city.
