Gasoline prices in Wyoming have seen a slight increase over the past week, rising by 0.3 cents per gallon to an average of $2.95 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 494 stations across the state, K2 Radio reports.
Compared to a month ago, prices are up by 3.9 cents per gallon and have increased by 15.8 cents per gallon from the same time last year.
Gas prices across Wyoming vary significantly, with the lowest reported price at $2.45 per gallon and the highest reaching $3.69 per gallon—a difference of $1.24 per gallon.
Nationally, gas prices have also edged up, rising by 2.2 cents per gallon in the past week to an average of $3.11 per gallon. However, while Wyoming’s prices have increased compared to last year, the national average is actually 16.5 cents per gallon lower than it was at this time in 2024.
Diesel prices have followed a similar trend, with the national average rising by 0.8 cents over the past week to $3.63 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, Patrick De Haan, rising prices on the West Coast, driven by refinery maintenance and outages, have contributed to price increases in nearby states. However, he noted that these sharp increases should begin to slow soon.
“With the transition to summer gasoline blends underway, prices in most areas are likely to start rising in the weeks ahead,” De Haan said.
He also pointed out that oil prices remain relatively stable in the low $70s per barrel, partially due to ongoing diplomatic efforts by former President Trump to negotiate a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine—an event that could have significant implications for oil markets in the coming months.
Gas prices in Wyoming remain competitive compared to neighboring states:
- Fort Collins, CO: $2.95 per gallon (up 9.4 cents from last week)
- Ogden, UT: $2.96 per gallon (down 1.7 cents from last week)
- Billings, MT: $3.05 per gallon (up 6.4 cents from last week)
Gasoline prices have fluctuated significantly over the past decade. A year ago, Wyoming’s average price was $2.79 per gallon, while in 2023, it was much higher at $3.38 per gallon. In contrast, ten years ago, in 2015, the average price in Wyoming was just $1.98 per gallon.
