Sheridan City Council Approves Wyoming Downs Rezone
  • PublishedFebruary 20, 2025

The Sheridan City Council voted Tuesday night to approve the rezoning of property owned by Wyoming Downs at 927 Coffeen Avenue, changing its designation from B-1 to M-1 to allow gambling on-site.

The ordinance passed on its third and final reading with a 6-1 vote, with Councilman Andy Patceg as the sole dissenting vote.

Before the decision, City Planner Kelly Schroeder addressed the council, and several members of the public spoke in opposition to the rezoning. Despite these concerns, the ordinance ultimately gained approval.

In addition to the rezoning decision, the council authorized a request to increase a Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan by $6.25 million for wastewater treatment plant upgrades. The council also approved a resolution to apply for a $1 million Mineral Royalty Grant to support the Hub on Smith’s Parking Lot Project.

Further details from the City Council meeting will be covered in upcoming reports.
