A scheduled press conference between Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and retired US Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, representing US President Donald Trump, was canceled on Thursday, The Associated Press reports.

The meeting between Zelensky and Kellogg did take place at the Presidential Office in Kyiv. Initially, the plan included a press conference following the meeting, with remarks from both Zelensky and Kellogg, as well as a Q&A session. However, this was changed to a photo opportunity.

Serhii Nikiforov, the Ukrainian presidential spokesman, stated that the change in format was requested by the US side. No further details were provided regarding the reason for the alteration.

After the meeting, Zelensky posted on his Telegram channel that they had a “good conversation” that included discussions on security guarantees and the return of Ukrainian prisoners.
