The Wyoming Cowboys snapped their five-game losing streak with a hard-fought 69-62 victory over Air Force, while the Cowgirls saw their five-game winning streak come to an end with a 78-73 loss at Boise State, WYO4News reports.

Trailing for the entire first half and much of the second, the Cowboys (5-11 Mountain West, 12-15 overall) finally took the lead at 49-48 with a three-pointer from Matjia Belic. They extended their advantage to nine points, 57-48, with under eight minutes to play, but Air Force (0-15 MW, 3-23 overall) refused to go down easily, tying the game at 62 with under three minutes remaining.

A clutch three-pointer from Abi Agbim with 1:53 left gave Wyoming the edge at 65-62. Agbim and A.J. Willis sealed the victory by sinking free throws in the final moments, securing the Cowboys’ 69-62 win.

Agbim led the team in scoring with 22 points, while Cole Henry added 16 and Dante Allen contributed 12. The Cowboys will next face San Jose State (5-10 MW, 12-15 overall) at home on Saturday afternoon.

While the Cowboys celebrated a victory, the Wyoming Cowgirls (10-4 MW, 16-10 overall) suffered a tough loss on the road. Despite leading Boise State by seven points heading into the fourth quarter, Wyoming struggled offensively in the final period, getting outscored 20-6. The defeat ended their five-game winning streak, while Boise State improved to 6-9 in the Mountain West and 16-12 overall.

Emily Mellema led the Cowgirls in scoring with 18 points, followed by Malene Pedersen with 16 and Allyson Fertig with 15. Fertig also grabbed 12 rebounds in the effort.

The Cowgirls will look to bounce back when they take on Nevada (6-8 MW, 11-16 overall) on Saturday night.
