Wyoming 1A-2A Boys Basketball Regional Tournament Schedule and Results

As the postseason begins, high school boys’ basketball teams in Wyoming’s 1A and 2A classifications are competing in regional tournaments for a chance to advance to the state championship, WyoPreps reports.

Games will take place from Thursday, February 27, through Saturday, March 1, at four host sites: Lander, Moorcroft, Riverton, and Upton.

Each regional bracket follows a double-elimination format, with the top four teams from each region securing a spot in the state tournament, set to be held in Casper from March 6-8.

1A West Regional – Lander

Lander High School will host the 1A West tournament at its fieldhouse and auxiliary gym. A play-in game on Monday determined the final seed, with Riverside edging out Meeteetse 34-32 for the Northwest No. 4 spot.

Thursday, Feb. 27

  • Game 1: (NW-2) St. Stephens vs. (SW-3) Farson-Eden, 11 a.m. (Aux)
  • Game 2: (SW-1) Cokeville vs. (NW-4) Riverside, 2 p.m. (Fieldhouse)
  • Game 3: (NW-1) Burlington vs. (SW-4) Encampment, 11 a.m. (Fieldhouse)
  • Game 4: (SW-2) Little Snake River vs. (NW-3) Dubois, 2 p.m. (Aux)

Friday, Feb. 28

Elimination and semifinal matchups will take place, with the championship and third-place games scheduled for Saturday.

1A East Regional – Upton

Upton High School will be the venue for the 1A East tournament. Play-in games determined the final seeds, with H.E.M. defeating Guernsey-Sunrise 48-37 for the Southeast No. 4 seed, and Kaycee securing the Northeast No. 4 seed with a 67-38 win over Casper Christian.

  • Game 1: (NE-2) Hulett vs. (SE-3) Southeast, 12 p.m.
  • Game 2: (SE-1) Lingle-Ft. Laramie vs. (NE-4) Kaycee, 1:30 p.m.
  • Game 3: (SE-2) Lusk vs. (NE-3) Midwest, 6:30 p.m.
  • Game 4: (NE-1) Upton vs. (SE-4) H.E.M., 8 p.m.

2A West Regional – Riverton

The 2A West tournament will take place at Riverton High School and Riverton Middle School. Big Piney secured the Southwest No. 1 seed, while Shoshoni earned the Northwest No. 3 seed based on point differentials in head-to-head matchups.

  • Game 2: (SW-2) Wyoming Indian vs. (NW-3) Shoshoni, 1:30 p.m. (RMS)
  • Game 3: (NW-2) Rocky Mountain vs. (SW-3) Kemmerer, 5 p.m. (RMS)
  • Game 4: (NW-1) Thermopolis vs. (SW-4) Wind River, 5 p.m. (RHS)

2A East Regional – Moorcroft

Moorcroft High School will host the 2A East tournament, with matchups beginning Thursday evening.

Thursday, Feb. 27

  • Game 1: (No. 3) Big Horn vs. (No. 6) Moorcroft, 7 p.m.
  • Game 2: (No. 4) Pine Bluffs vs. (No. 5) Tongue River, 8:30 p.m.

Winners of Friday’s quarterfinals will qualify for the state tournament, while elimination games will determine the remaining two spots on Friday evening.

With a double-elimination format, teams have multiple opportunities to secure a place at the state tournament. The final regional championship games and third-place matchups will be held on Saturday, March 1.
