Oscar Winner Gene Hackman, Wife, Dog Found Dead in Santa Fe Home

Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman, 95, his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, and their dog were found dead in their Santa Fe home on Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox News.
“On February 26, 2025 at approximately 1:45 p.m., Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an address on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park where Gene Hackman, 95 and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, and a dog were found deceased,” the statement read.
While foul play is not currently suspected, the cause of death for Hackman, Arakawa, and their dog has not yet been determined. Sheriff Adan Mendoza initially told the Santa Fe New Mexican that a preliminary death investigation is underway.
Hackman was a celebrated figure in Hollywood, renowned for his memorable roles and Oscar-winning performances in films such as “The French Connection” and “Unforgiven.” His wife, Betsy Arakawa, was a classical pianist.
