The Wyoming Cowboys put up a determined fight against San Diego State on Senior Night, keeping the game close until the final moments, Bigfoot99 Radio reports.

Despite their resilience, the Cowboys fell just short, losing 72-69 in the Arena Auditorium on Saturday night.

San Diego State, sitting fourth in the Mountain West standings, entered the game with momentum as the conference tournament approaches. Wyoming, however, refused to back down, staying competitive throughout the contest. Even during scoring droughts—including a tough three-minute stretch without a basket—the Cowboys kept battling.

With just 90 seconds left, Wyoming nearly erased an eight-point deficit, putting themselves in position to force overtime. However, as the final buzzer sounded, they were unable to get off a potential game-tying shot.

The Cowboys’ seniors stepped up in their final home game. Obi Agbim led the team with 21 points, while Dontaie Allen contributed 16. Their efforts kept Wyoming within striking distance, but costly turnovers proved to be the difference. The Cowboys committed 17 turnovers, leading to 20 points for the Aztecs. Additionally, Wyoming struggled from three-point range in the second half, shooting just 21 percent from beyond the arc.

Following the game, Head Coach Sundance Wicks took a moment to express his gratitude to the fans who supported the team throughout the season, especially on Senior Night. He reflected on the team’s progress in his first year as head coach, emphasizing the foundation being built for the program’s future.

The Cowboys now turn their attention to the final game of the regular season, a road matchup against Fresno State on Tuesday night. Wyoming won the first meeting between the two teams in January, 83-72. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
