Gas prices in Wyoming remain relatively stable, with the average price per gallon staying under $3 for another week, K2 Radio reports.

According to GasBuddy’s survey of 494 stations across the state, the average price of gasoline in Wyoming has risen slightly—by 0.8 cents per gallon—bringing the current average to $2.96 per gallon.

Prices continue to vary widely across Wyoming. The lowest recorded price as of yesterday was $2.39 per gallon, while the most expensive station charged $3.69 per gallon—a difference of $1.30 per gallon.

While Wyoming’s gas prices remain relatively low, the national average price of gasoline has dropped by 3.8 cents per gallon over the past week, now standing at $3.04 per gallon. The national average is also 4.7 cents lower than a month ago and nearly 30 cents lower than this time last year.

Diesel prices have also declined slightly nationwide, dropping 1.9 cents in the past week to an average of $3.63 per gallon.

Despite the recent dip in gas prices, Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, cautioned that global economic factors and geopolitical tensions could lead to uncertainty in fuel costs. Factors such as potential tariffs announced by the Trump administration, ongoing discussions regarding the war in Ukraine, and actions by OPEC to stabilize the market could all impact fuel prices in the coming weeks. Additionally, seasonal trends typically lead to an increase in gas prices in the spring as demand rises ahead of the summer travel season.

Historically, Wyoming’s gas prices have fluctuated significantly. On March 3 of previous years, average prices were as follows:

  • 2024 – $2.97/g (National average: $3.34/g)
  • 2023 – $3.36/g (National average: $3.37/g)
  • 2022 – $3.53/g (National average: $3.76/g)
  • 2021 – $2.60/g (National average: $2.74/g)
  • 2020 – $2.39/g (National average: $2.42/g)

Compared to neighboring regions, Wyoming’s gas prices are similar:

  • Fort Collins, CO – $2.85/g (down 7.3 cents from last week)
  • Ogden, UT – $2.96/g (down 1.8 cents from last week)
  • Billings, MT – $3.09/g (up 3.8 cents from last week)

While gas prices in Wyoming have edged slightly upward, they remain lower than the national average.
