A CNN poll of viewers who watched President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night indicates a high level of approval for the President’s message, Fox News reports.

The poll found that 69% of viewers had a positive reaction to the speech, while only 31% viewed it negatively.

Specifically, 44% of those polled reported having a “very positive” reaction, with an additional 25% describing their reaction as “somewhat positive.” On the other hand, 15% felt the speech was “somewhat negative,” and 16% had a “very negative” response.

The CNN report acknowledges that the viewership of the speech represents a small fraction of the total US population. The poll itself was based on a sample size of 431 respondents and carries a margin of error of 5.3%.

The demographic breakdown of the poll respondents revealed a partisan leaning.

“Among the entire sample, 21% described themselves as Democrats, 44% described themselves as Republicans, and 35% described themselves as independents or members of another party,” the CNN report read.
