Malene Pedersen of Wyoming has been named the final Mountain West Player of the Week for the season, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

This marks Pedersen’s first Player of the Week award, though she had previously earned Freshman of the Week recognition five times during the 2022-23 season.

Pedersen delivered a standout performance in Wyoming’s 71-66 victory over top-seeded UNLV, recording a career-high 27 points. She shot 9-of-17 from the field and made five 3-pointers on nine attempts, also contributing four rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

This win also marked Pedersen’s sixth 20-point game of the season, further solidifying her impressive performance throughout the year.

With the Mountain West Championship on the horizon, Pedersen and the Wyoming Cowgirls, who are the No. 2 seed, are preparing for their next challenge. They will face the winner of the Air Force vs. Utah State game on Monday at 6 p.m. Mountain Time in Las Vegas.
