The US Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Region is looking to fill up to 50 temporary wildland firefighting and fire support positions for the 2025 fire season.

These positions will be spread across national forests and grasslands in Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

Available roles include engine operators, hotshot and handcrew members, helitack crew members, fuels technicians, fire lookouts, dispatchers, and other fire support jobs.

Applications are open to all US citizens and nationals who are at least 18 years old. The hiring process will use a Direct Hire Authority, meaning Veterans’ Preference and traditional applicant ranking methods do not apply.

Job seekers can find more details, including duty locations and application instructions, on the Forest Service Careers webpage. Applications must be submitted through USAJobs.gov by March 13, 2025. Additional resources, such as resume tips and step-by-step application guidance, are available on the How to Apply webpage.
