Wyoming Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Kemmerer

An 86-year-old Wyoming man, Charles Luthy, has died following a single-vehicle crash near Kemmerer, according to police reports.

The accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, at milepost 153.146 on Fossil Butte Drive.

According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol report, Luthy was driving a GMC pickup eastbound when his vehicle gradually veered off the right side of the road. The pickup struck a delineator post, then hit a raised dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to go airborne before landing and coming to an uncontrolled rest.

Luthy was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and succumbed to his injuries. Authorities noted that a medical condition may have contributed to the accident.

His death marks the 15th reported fatality on Wyoming highways in 2025.
