A good night’s sleep is essential for a child’s health, development, and well-being, K2 Radio reports.

According to Kids Health, children need between 9 and 12 hours of sleep per night to allow their brains to process information, replenish essential chemicals, and promote physical healing. However, for many children, a lack of a proper bed prevents them from getting the rest they need.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Casper, a nonprofit organization, has been working to ensure that every child in Central Wyoming has a comfortable bed. Since its launch in summer 2023, the organization has distributed nearly $80,000 worth of beds, helping hundreds of children across the region.

The team at Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Casper meets regularly throughout the year to build and distribute beds. When a family is in need, they can contact the organization, and a complete bed setup—including a bed frame, mattress, and bedding—is delivered and assembled in their home at no cost.

To continue providing beds for children, the organization is hosting a fundraising event at Thankful Thursday on March 13 at the Beacon Club in Mills. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. and will feature a variety of activities to raise money for the cause, including:

  • Bottle Draws – Guests 21 and older will receive a wristband for a chance to win cash, food, drinks, or other prizes.
  • Chuck the Duck – A fun game where participants toss rubber ducks for a share of the cash jackpot.
  • 50/50 Raffle – Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5, with half of the proceeds going to the winner and half to Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
  • Gun Raffle – Only 150 tickets are available at $10 each. The winner will choose between a Springfield Armory Hellcat 9mm or a Henry Lever Action .22.
  • Live Auction – Led by auctioneer Colby Hales, featuring a variety of exciting auction items.

The auction includes themed gift baskets, experience packages, and specialty items. Some highlights include:

  • Movie Night Basket – Movie passes, wine, chocolates, a hotel stay, and dinner for two.
