Actor Harrison Ford and his wife, Calista Flockhart, have found solace in the peaceful surroundings of their Wyoming ranch, a retreat Ford has owned since the 1980s, according to Hello! Magazine.
The couple, who have been together since 2002, prefer the serene lifestyle that Wyoming offers, away from the hustle of Hollywood.
Located near Jackson Hole, Ford’s ranch spans 800 acres along the Snake River, providing a secluded haven where he can immerse himself in nature. The actor, best known for his roles in Indiana Jones and Star Wars, has lived in Wyoming for decades and has become a familiar face in the area.
“I’m old news. I’ve been there for 35 years,” Ford told Parade, expressing his deep connection to the region. “When I’m up in Wyoming, I just walk out the door and keep walking.”
Ford’s love for the Wyoming landscape dates back to his first visit.
“The first time I saw Jackson Hole, I said, ‘This is the place that’s been in my mind all the time,'” he once told his biographer, according to The Land Report.
Beyond acting, Ford is also a skilled carpenter, a talent he has used to maintain and enhance his ranch over the years. His appreciation for the natural beauty of Wyoming is evident in his commitment to preserving the land.
“It was about water, streams, trees, animals—a grand expression of nature. The Tetons rising sharply from a flat, high mountain plateau,” he once said about his decision to purchase the property.
In addition to carpentry, Ford is an avid pilot and enjoys flying when he is in Wyoming.
“If my chores are done and there’s nothing more pressing and the weather’s good, I’ll go flying—I love to fly up there—or walk in the woods, do some work, ride my road bike or mountain bike,” he told Parade.
While Ford and Flockhart also own a home in Brentwood, California, they reportedly spend most of their time in Wyoming, where they value their privacy and quiet lifestyle. Ford has even shared lighthearted advice on maintaining a happy marriage, joking with Parade that the key is simple:
“Don’t talk. Nod your head.”
With the beauty of the Wyoming mountains as their backdrop, Ford and Flockhart have carved out a tranquil existence, embracing the simplicity and solitude that their ranch provides.
