The University of Wyoming Cowgirls have earned a place in the first-ever Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT), marking a significant achievement for the program, Cap City News reports.

Following a strong 2024-25 season, the Cowgirls (22-11) secured a No. 4 seed in the tournament and will host Texas Tech in the opening round. The date and time for the matchup have yet to be announced.

Wyoming enters the postseason on a hot streak, having won 12 of its last 15 games. The team recently came up just short in a thrilling triple-overtime battle against San Diego State in the Mountain West Championship game.

Leading the charge for the Cowgirls are Mountain West Player of the Year Allyson Fertig and Defensive Player of the Year Emily Mellema, along with a strong supporting cast.

With the opportunity to compete on the national stage, Wyoming looks to make an impact in the inaugural WBIT.
