President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Secret Service protection for President Joe Biden’s adult children, Hunter and Ashley Biden, would be terminated, effective immediately, as per Fox News.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that Hunter Biden has received Secret Service protection for an “extended period of time.” He criticized the size of Hunter’s security detail:

“There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!”

Trump further announced that Ashley Biden’s Secret Service detail, comprised of 13 agents, would also be revoked.

The US Secret Service confirmed the decision in a statement to the news outlet:

“We are aware of the President’s decision to terminate protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden. The Secret Service will comply and is actively working with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible.”

While federal law mandates lifetime Secret Service protection for former presidents and their spouses, protection for their immediate families over the age of 16 typically ends when they leave office. Both Trump and Biden had previously extended these details for their children for six months after leaving office, according to the Associated Press.

Notably, former President Biden allowed Baron Trump to continue receiving Secret Service protection after his 16th birthday.

In his announcement, Trump also mentioned President Biden’s current vacation in South Africa, a nation he claimed is facing scrutiny from his administration due to its land exploration law, which potentially allows the government to seize land without compensation, and its perceived support for Hamas and Iran. Trump specifically alleged that these land seizures discriminate against White landowners.
