The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued multiple recalls last week, affecting over 120,000 vehicles, including Tesla Cybertrucks, Ford, and Lincoln models, USA Today reports.
The recalls address various safety concerns, ranging from detaching trim panels to faulty backup cameras and steering column issues.
Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by visiting the NHTSA’s recall database or USA TODAY’s automotive recall database. Recalls can also be searched using a vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the NHTSA website.
Tesla has recalled over 46,000 Cybertrucks due to a trim panel that may detach from the vehicle. The recall applies to Cybertrucks manufactured from November 2023 through February 27, 2024.
This marks the eighth recall for the Cybertruck this year, occurring as Tesla CEO Elon Musk remains a controversial figure in the political landscape due to his role in the Trump administration.
Tesla will replace the trim panel free of charge, with owner notification letters scheduled to be sent on May 19.
Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 50,000 vehicles due to backup camera malfunctions that were improperly repaired under a previous recall. The video output may fail, posing a potential safety hazard.
The recall affects the following models:
- 2020-2023 Ford Explorer
- 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator
- 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair
Ford dealers will update the software free of charge, and owners will be notified by mail on April 24.
Ford has also issued two more recalls due to faulty fixes from previous recalls:
2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Ford Maverick
- Nearly 13,000 vehicles are affected by body and powertrain control module issues that may fail to detect changes in the 12-volt battery charge.
- Ford will recalibrate the modules free of charge, with owner notifications set for April 24.
2021-2022 Ford Edge
- Over 2,250 vehicles were recalled due to a software error that may cause the rearview camera to display a blank or distorted image when reversing.
- Dealers will update the software for free, with owner notifications scheduled for April 24.
Ford is also recalling certain 2025 Super Duty trucks due to steering column issues. The shifter may have been improperly welded, potentially causing it to detach from the steering column.
The recall affects the following models:
- F-250
- F-350
- F-450
Ford dealers will inspect and replace the steering column if necessary, free of charge. Owners will receive notification letters on April 24.
Vehicle owners can check if their car is affected by visiting the NHTSA website and entering their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). They can also access recall information through USA TODAY’s automotive recall database.
With over 120,000 vehicles affected, manufacturers urge owners to address recalls promptly to ensure safety on the road.
