The Wyoming Cowgirls tennis team came up short against San Jose State on Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 in a competitive road match, 7220sports reports.

Despite the final score, the match was closer than it appeared, as Wyoming was leading in three singles contests before San Jose State clinched the fourth point to secure the team victory.

The Cowgirls started the day with a tough battle in doubles play, where they suffered their first doubles point loss in conference action. However, the team of Violetta Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayeva continued their dominant form, winning 6-0 at the No. 1 position.

In singles play, Wyoming showed strong performances, particularly with Borodina at No. 1, Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia at No. 2, and Elena Trencheva at No. 6, all leading their matches before play was halted. However, victories for the Spartans in other singles matches secured the team win.

The Cowgirls will look to bounce back on Sunday when they travel to Fresno State for another road matchup at 1 p.m.
