Bank of America Corp. is undergoing a leadership transition in its India operations, Bloomberg reports.

Kaku Nakhate, who has led the bank’s India business for 15 years, is stepping down from her role, according to an internal memo.

Vikram Sahu, currently head of Bank of America’s global equity research, has been appointed as Nakhate’s successor as India country head. Sahu will relocate from New York to India in the second quarter of this year.

Nakhate will remain with Bank of America to focus on cultivating relationships with key clients in the India business. She will also continue to serve as CEO of BANA India, the bank’s entity in the country, until Sahu receives the necessary regulatory approvals to assume the CEO position.

This transition comes as Bank of America moves past an internal investigation into alleged misconduct related to stock offerings. Three India-based bankers departed the company last year in connection with that investigation, according to previous reports.

Sahu has led global equity research from New York since 2022 and previously held positions with the bank in Hong Kong. Nakhate has served as the India country head since mid-2010, according to her LinkedIn profile.
