Cornhole, a game with roots dating back to the 1800s, has grown from a backyard pastime into a competitive sport with national and international tournaments, KGAB AM 650 reports.

Whether at local bars, football tailgates, or professional events broadcast on ESPN, cornhole continues to attract players of all ages and skill levels.

Wyoming is no exception. Throughout the state, cornhole tournaments and leagues are a common sight, offering both casual and competitive players a chance to test their skills. One of the biggest upcoming events is the 2nd Annual Wild West Shootout Cornhole Championships, set to take place at the Wind River Casino & Resort in Riverton on June 27-28.

This event welcomes participants of all skill levels, with a $25 registration fee per person. Organizers have even partnered with local hotels to offer special rates for attendees.

Cornhole’s appeal lies in its simplicity. All that’s needed are two boards with a hole and a few bean bags—yet mastering the game requires skill and practice. Those looking to take their game to a more competitive level can find leagues and structured tournaments throughout Wyoming, many of which raise funds for local causes.
