Following a strong individual season, Wyoming basketball standout Obi Agbim has announced he will transfer for his final year of college eligibility, Cap City News reports.

The Mountain West Conference Newcomer of the Year made the announcement on Instagram on March 17, expressing gratitude for his time at the University of Wyoming.

“From the moment I arrived, I knew this place was super special,” Agbim wrote. “I was welcomed with open arms by Coach Wicks, the entire coaching staff, and my teammates. Wyoming is truly a special place that has given me memories I will cherish forever.”

Despite Agbim’s impressive performances, Wyoming finished the 2024–25 season with a 12–10 record, falling in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament to San Jose State (66–61). The team did not receive a postseason tournament bid.

Agbim was Wyoming’s top performer throughout the season, averaging:

  • 17.6 points per game

  • 3.2 rebounds per game

  • 3.4 assists per game

His standout moments included a buzzer-beater three-pointer against Fresno State, which forced overtime and helped the Cowboys secure a crucial win. His performances against high-level opponents such as BYU and Colorado State further solidified his reputation.

Agbim’s success has made him a highly sought-after transfer. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello ranked him as the 20th most attractive player in the transfer portal, citing his ability to perform against strong competition.

Before his time at Wyoming, Agbim played at Fort Lewis College in Colorado and had stints at multiple junior colleges. His next destination remains undetermined, but it will be his final stop in college basketball as he enters his last season as a graduate student.
