The Wyoming Cowgirls secured a 4-1 home victory over UNLV in Mountain West women’s tennis action on Sunday.

Wyoming won doubles play and took three of four completed singles matches, snapping UNLV’s six-match winning streak.

With the win, Wyoming improved to 5-13 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while UNLV fell to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain West.

The Cowgirls took an early lead, winning doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3. The top pair of Violetta Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayeva won 6-3, while Serina Abriola and Ruby Young dominated at No. 3 with a 6-1 victory.

In singles play, Wyoming won at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 positions. Borodina battled to a straight-sets win at the top spot, while Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia rallied for a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 2. Elena Trencheva secured Wyoming’s final point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4.

UNLV’s Coco Zhao earned the Rebels’ only point, defeating Eugenia Ceinos 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position.

Wyoming will play Utah State on Friday and Boise State on Sunday in a pair of road matches. UNLV will face UNR on Friday in the Silver State Series.
