Moreno Triumphs in Mexico City, Torres, Rosas Jr. Score Victories at UFC Fight Night

Former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno erased the memory of past disappointments on Mexican soil with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Steve Erceg in the main event of UFC Fight Night, as per Al Jazeera.
The win, a flyweight title eliminator bout, saw Moreno sweep the judges’ scorecards 49-46, 49-46, 49-46 against the former title challenger in front of a roaring home crowd.
Despite a closely contested fight, Moreno controlled the pace and kept the bout standing, forcing Erceg to engage on his terms. While a finish remained elusive, Moreno outlanded Erceg 82-67 in total strikes, securing his victory and preventing an upset by the Australian-born fighter.
Following his win, Moreno directly addressed UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell, requesting guidance for his next fight and expressing his desire to compete at UFC 320, scheduled for September 13 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He stopped short of explicitly naming a potential opponent.
The co-main event saw Manuel Torres deliver a devastating first-round technical knockout against UFC veteran Drew Dober. Torres overwhelmed Dober with a barrage of unanswered shots, prompting the referee to halt the fight after Dober absorbed at least 16 blows to the head. The victory marks Torres’ return to the win column after over a year, while Dober has now suffered four losses in his last five fights dating back to May 2023.
Earlier in the evening, rising Mexican bantamweight star Raul Rosas Jr. survived a late scare from Vince Morales to secure a unanimous decision victory with scores of 29-28, 29-28, 29-28. Rosas Jr. weathered a third-round D’arce choke attempt from Morales, ultimately using his superior boxing skills to frustrate his opponent and ignite the crowd. The win marks Rosas Jr.’s fifth victory in his last six appearances. Morales, who had not won a fight since last August before his recent re-signing with the UFC, was unable to capitalize on the late submission attempt.
