The 2025 Special Olympics Wyoming State Summer Games will take place in Gillette from May 1–3, bringing together athletes, coaches, and supporters for a three-day competition across multiple venues, County 17 reports.

According to Special Olympics Wyoming, this year’s event will feature competitions in track and field, basketball, powerlifting, and swimming. Events will be held at the Cam-Plex Wyoming Center, Campbell County High School Track, Thunder Basin High School Gymnasium, Campbell County Aquatic Center, and the Campbell County Recreation Center.

Beyond the athletic events, the games will also include a youth summit focused on inclusion, health screenings for participating athletes, and a special opening ceremony speech by Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton.

The event will officially begin on Thursday, May 1, with the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Athletes and law enforcement officers will carry the Flame of Hope, concluding their run at the Campbell County Recreation Center, where attendees can enjoy music, food trucks, and a celebration. Later that evening, the opening ceremony at the CAM-PLEX Wyoming Center will feature the parade of athletes and the lighting of the Flame of Hope, marking the official start of the competition.

The Special Olympics Wyoming State Summer Games rely on volunteers to help make the event a success. Those interested in supporting the event can sign up to volunteer through the Special Olympics Wyoming website. Additional details, including a tentative schedule, are also available online.
