The Trump administration has begun terminating the parole protections of migrants who entered the US using the Biden-era CBP One app, ordering them to leave the country immediately or face a permanent ban from reentry, Fox News reports.

The CBP One app, launched in January 2023, allowed nearly 1 million migrants to schedule appointments at official ports of entry, where they were then paroled into the US and granted temporary work authorization for two years while awaiting asylum proceedings. According to the New York Post, citing DHS data, the app was used to admit more than 936,500 people through December 2024.

On his first day in office, President Trump ended the use of the CBP One app for parole and has now moved to revoke the legal status of migrants who previously entered under its provisions.

According to a CBS report, the administration is notifying affected migrants via a Homeland Security message.

“If you do not depart the United States immediately you will be subject to potential law enforcement actions that will result in your removal from the United States — unless you have otherwise obtained a lawful basis to remain here,” the message reportedly reads.

The notification encourages migrants to utilize the CBP Home app, formerly the CBP One app, for self-deportation.

“Again, DHS is terminating your parole. Do not attempt to remain in the United States — the federal government will find you,” the notice warns. “Please depart the United States immediately.”

The Trump administration’s action reverses the Biden administration’s policy, which had expanded the CBP One app to facilitate migrant entry at ports of entry and through a separate parole process. This process involved migrants uploading information and photographs, later used by the TSA to verify identities for air travel.

In addition to ending CBP One parole, the Trump administration has also canceled extensions of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for some nationalities, including for over 600,000 Venezuelans. TPS grants protection from deportation and work permits to nationals from countries deemed unsafe for return.

While the Biden administration had extended TPS for Venezuela, El Salvador, Sudan, and Ukraine, the Trump administration has taken steps to rescind these extensions. Previous attempts to end Temporary Protected Status have been challenged in the courts.
