Wyoming High School Track Teams Compete in Busy Week of Events

Week 4 of the Wyoming High School track and field season is shaping up to be the busiest yet in 2025, WyoPreps reports.

With favorable weather across the state, teams are set to compete in eight in-state meets while others travel to prestigious out-of-state events. The competition kicks off on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, with Green River, Douglas, Upton, Cheyenne, Dayton, Powell, Big Piney, and Glenrock hosting track meets.

In addition to the Wyoming events, several teams will travel to meets in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Utah. A select group of athletes will also compete in the prestigious Arcadia Invitational in California, a nationally recognized competition.

Wyoming High School Track and Field Schedule – Week 4 (April 9-12, 2025)

Wednesday, April 9:

  • GRHS Track and Field Invite (Green River HS) – Big Piney, Evanston, Farson-Eden, Green River, Jackson, Lyman, Mountain View, Pinedale, Rawlins, Rock Springs.

Thursday, April 10 (Out-of-State Events):

  • Mitchell Invite (Mitchell, NE) – Lingle-Ft. Laramie.

  • Sugar-Salem Invite (Sugar City, ID) – Star Valley.

Friday, April 11:

  • Douglas Track Pent (Douglas HS) – Campbell County, Douglas, Glenrock, Guernsey-Sunrise, Rawlins.

  • Mick Tonkel Fly High Classic (Upton HS) – Arvada-Clearmont, Hulett, Kaycee, Midwest, Lusk, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance, Thunder Basin, Upton, Wright.

  • Okie Blanchard Invite (Cheyenne East HS) – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Encampment, H.E.M., Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Natrona County, Pine Bluffs, Rock River, Southeast, Torrington, Wheatland.

  • TR Invite (Tongue River HS, Dayton, WY) – Big Horn, Greybull, Sheridan, Shoshoni, Ten Sleep, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy.

Friday, April 11 (Out-of-State Events):

  • Arcadia Invitational (Arcadia, CA) – Cheyenne Central, Jackson, Laramie, Sheridan, Star Valley.

  • Greeley Twilight Invitational (Greeley, CO) – Saratoga.

  • Phil Wertman Invitational (Grand Junction, CO) – Little Snake River.

  • Queen City Classic (Spearfish, SD) – Buffalo, Campbell County, Newcastle, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Wyoming Indian.

Saturday, April 12:

  • La Kohnke Powell Invitational (Powell HS) – Burlington, Cody, Lander, Lovell, Powell, Riverside, Rocky Mountain, Thermopolis, Worland.

  • Puncher Invite (Big Piney HS) – Big Piney, Farson-Eden, Lyman, Mountain View, Pinedale, Rock Springs.
