The University of Wyoming men’s golf team wrapped up their participation at the Tiger Intercollegiate on Tuesday, finishing 14th in the team standings with a total score of 880 (+40), 7220sports reports.
The event, held at The Old Club at Hawthorne in Missouri, presented challenging conditions with cold temperatures and strong winds, which made the course particularly difficult.
Head coach Joe Jensen noted the tough playing conditions, saying:
“This was as cold and as windy as it has been in a long time. It was a really difficult course, and we didn’t play well, but today was better for us. We played hard on a very, very difficult course.”
Missouri took home the top spot in the tournament with a final score of 840 (E), while St. Mary’s (848, +8) and Nebraska (854, +14) rounded out the top three. Missouri’s Mattias Varjun claimed the individual title with a score of 206 (-4).
Individually, Brody Leid led the Cowboys with a score of 217 (+7), tying for 26th place. He finished strong with three birdies and an eagle on the final day. Patrick Azevedo followed closely with a 220 (+10), tying for 44th place, while Damon Vilkauskas recorded a 221 (+11), finishing in a tie for 51st. Vilkauskas also had his best round on Tuesday, shooting a 73 (+3).
Kristof Panke concluded the tournament with a 222 (+12), tying for 55th place, after firing a 71 (+1) in the final round, which included two birdies. Davis Seybert, whose score was dropped, tied for 96th with a total of 241 (+31) after a final round 79 (+9).
Ethan Smith, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 91st with a total score of 231 (+21), carding a 73 (+3) in his final round.
The team standings concluded with Missouri leading the pack at 840 (E), followed by St. Mary’s and Nebraska in second and third, respectively. Wyoming’s final position at 880 (+40) placed them just ahead of Stetson, South Dakota State, and Central Michigan in the rankings.
