After a stretch of mild but breezy weather, Cheyenne is kicking off the new week with a noticeable drop in temperatures and a round of snow showers, Cap City News reports.
According to the National Weather Service, the region can expect snow beginning today and continuing into the evening, along with gusty winds and fluctuating temperatures throughout the week.
Snow showers are expected to move into the area between noon and 5 p.m. today, with a 40% chance of precipitation. While skies will be partly sunny, high temperatures are forecast to reach just under 60 degrees. Winds will be a dominant feature, coming from the west-northwest at 15–20 mph and gusting up to 35 mph.
By evening, the chance of snow diminishes to about 20% and should taper off before 7 p.m. Temperatures will fall to a low around 23 degrees overnight, with winds calming to 5–10 mph after midnight.
Monday will bring more sunshine, but cooler conditions will persist, with a high around 56 degrees. Winds will gradually pick up again during the afternoon, reaching 10–15 mph with gusts near 30 mph. Monday night will remain mostly clear, dipping to 28 degrees.
On Tuesday, temperatures rebound with a high near 68 degrees under sunny skies. Light winds from the south-southwest are expected, providing a brief break from the chilly trend.
Wednesday will continue the warming trend, reaching close to 70 degrees, although it will be breezy. However, the reprieve will be short-lived. By Thursday afternoon, showers are likely to return, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms. This marks the beginning of another stretch of cooler weather.
Thursday night will see temperatures drop again, with a mix of rain and snow expected before turning to all snow after 11 p.m. Lows will fall to the upper 20s.
Friday will remain mostly cloudy and chilly, with a high near 42 degrees and a continued chance of snow showers. Overnight lows will be around 26 degrees.
Saturday may offer a slight chance of rain or snow showers, but the day will be partly sunny with highs reaching the mid-40s.
