The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming State Office has opened a 30-day public comment period on a proposal to include 37 oil and gas parcels, totaling approximately 45,178 acres, in its September 2025 lease sale.

The comment period, which began on April 15, will run through May 15, 2025.

The parcels under consideration are located on federal lands across Wyoming. Following a scoping process completed in March 2025, the BLM is now inviting feedback from the public on the parcels themselves, potential deferrals, and the accompanying environmental analysis.

Public comments collected during this period will help inform the BLM’s review and final decision on whether to offer specific parcels in the upcoming lease sale. According to the agency, leasing is an early step in the oil and gas development process. Before any drilling occurs, companies must submit an application for permit to drill (APD), which undergoes its own environmental review and public notification process.

Each lease parcel considered in the sale will include stipulations designed to protect key natural resources, consistent with BLM land management policies. These stipulations can include seasonal restrictions, protections for wildlife habitats, or other environmental safeguards.

Members of the public can access parcel information, maps, and detailed instructions on how to submit comments through the BLM’s ePlanning website at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2036327/510.
