Biden Attacks Trump Administration’s Social Security Policies in First Post-Term Speech

In his first major public address since leaving office, former President Joe Biden criticized the Trump administration’s approach to Social Security, warning that the program’s future is in jeopardy, Fox News reports.
Speaking at the Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD) conference in Chicago on Tuesday evening, Biden claimed that Americans are “genuinely concerned for the first time in history” that their Social Security benefits could be delayed or interrupted.
“In the 90 years since Franklin Roosevelt created the Social Security system, people have always gotten their Social Security checks,” Biden stated. “They’ve gotten them during wartime, during recessions, during the pandemic. No matter what, they got them. But now, for the first time ever, that might change. It would be a calamity for millions of families, millions of people.”
Biden’s appearance at the ACRD conference was billed as his first public speech since departing the White House. However, Fox Digital noted that Biden has made other public remarks since January 20th, including addresses before the National High School Model United Nations in March and at an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers event earlier this month. These earlier appearances received less media attention.
ACRD is an advocacy organization focused on providing disability professionals with the tools, technology, and training necessary to lead the industry, according to its website.
