President Trump Touts Border Security, Tariff Successes Approaching 100-Day Mark

Approaching his first 100 days in office, President Donald Trump highlighted his administration’s achievements in border security and trade during an exclusive interview with Fox Noticias on Tuesday.
Speaking with Fox News’ Rachel Campos-Duffy, Trump identified securing the border as a primary source of pride.
“I think the thing that people now realize is the border is 100%. It’s like literally 100%. It’s perfect now, and I don’t know if you can tell. Perfect. But it’s going to get better. And by the way, we want people to come in, but they have to come in legally and everybody agrees to that,” Trump stated.
The President’s comments reflect a key promise from his campaign. Data indicates that illegal border crossings have decreased since his inauguration. A recent report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed that total apprehensions at the southern border in March were lower than the apprehensions recorded in the first two days of March 2024 under the Biden administration. The CBP report further indicated that US Border Patrol averaged its lowest daily nationwide apprehensions in history for the second consecutive month.
In addition to border security, President Trump emphasized the administration’s economic successes, particularly its tariff policies.
“We’re making tremendous amounts of money taking in billions and billions, hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs from other countries that for many, many decades just ripped off the United States. And it’s time that we not allow that to happen,” Trump told Campos-Duffy.
The administration recently unveiled a tariff plan on what it termed “Liberation Day.” Since April 2, a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs has been implemented for countries willing to negotiate trade deals, while tariffs on China have been increased.
President Trump also noted his satisfaction with Congress’ work on the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which he said would include tax cuts and the reduction of regulations.
