Deported MS-13 Suspect Had History of Domestic Abuse, Documents Reveal

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien accused of being a member of the violent MS-13 gang and deported last month to El Salvador’s “Terrorism Confinement Center” (CECOT), has a documented history of domestic abuse against his wife, Jennifer Vasquez, according to court records obtained by Fox News.
The revelations come as some Democratic lawmakers are actively advocating for Abrego Garcia’s return to the United States, prompting outrage from critics who point to his alleged criminal affiliations and violent past.
Vasquez filed written domestic violence allegations against Abrego Garcia, 29, in a Prince George’s County, Maryland district court in 2021. In her own handwriting, Vasquez alleges repeated beatings, claiming Abrego Garcia punched and scratched her eye, leaving her bleeding, and threw her laptop to the floor. She also recounted another incident where he allegedly ripped off her shirt and shorts, grabbing her arm and leaving marks. Vasquez further detailed two additional incidents in 2020 where Abrego Garcia physically assaulted her.
These domestic violence allegations are just the latest information casting doubt on the narrative being pushed by some Democrats, who claim Abrego Garcia was “wrongly deported.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released additional court documents this week, claiming they definitively prove Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13. According to a Prince George’s County Police Department interview sheet shared by DHS, police encountered Abrego Garcia during a 2019 murder investigation while loitering in a Home Depot parking lot with other known MS-13 gang members in possession of illicit drugs. The police department’s Gang Unit MS-13 Intelligence Squad interviewed Abrego Garcia and contacted a “past proven and reliable source” who identified him as an active member of MS-13 with the “Westerns” clique, holding the rank of “Chequeo” and known by the moniker “Chele.”
The legal saga surrounding Abrego Garcia began during the Trump administration, which sought to crack down on illegal migrant crime. While the Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision ordering the Trump administration to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and ensure his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent there, the responsibility for his return ultimately rests with El Salvador.
Despite this, some Democrats have championed Abrego Garcia’s cause, referring to him as a “Maryland man” wrongly deported and even suggesting he was kidnapped by the Trump administration. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., recently traveled to El Salvador to visit Abrego Garcia in prison and advocate for his release.
Van Hollen’s actions have drawn criticism from many, including the mother of Rachel Morrin, a 39-year-old Maryland mother raped and murdered by a Salvadoran illegal immigrant in 2023.
