Fire crews from three Laramie County fire districts responded to a structure fire at Pine Bluffs Junior Senior High School on Thursday afternoon, Cap City News reports.

The fire was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported.

According to a social media statement from Laramie County Fire District #5, the department was dispatched at approximately 3:06 p.m. after receiving reports of a fire at the school. Units from Fire Districts #5, #3, and #1 responded with two engines, a command unit, and eight personnel.

Emergency crews arrived within seven minutes. At the time, students and staff were still evacuating the building, and the fire alarm had been triggered. Firefighters entered the school and found smoke and an active fire in a side room of a classroom. The fire had been partially contained thanks to a sprinkler system and quick actions by school staff who closed the door to the room.

Fire District #5 crews extinguished the remaining fire while law enforcement and fire personnel conducted a sweep of the building to ensure everyone had exited safely.

Assistance from additional agencies was ultimately not required and was canceled at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Firefighters remained at the school to ventilate the building and support investigative efforts with the Sheriff’s Office and Pine Bluffs Police. All fire units cleared the scene by 5:52 p.m.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
