A new bourbon bearing the name of one of Wyoming’s most iconic fictional characters is hitting the shelves this week, KGAB AM 650 reports.

Inspired by Joe Pickett, the fictional game warden created by bestselling author C.J. Box, the bourbon will be available for purchase beginning Friday, April 18.

Produced by Pine Bluffs Distilling, the Joe Pickett bourbon pays tribute to the central character of Box’s long-running book series and the television adaptation currently streaming on Paramount. Pickett, portrayed as a dedicated and often embattled state game warden in the fictional town of Saddlestring, Wyoming, has become a fan favorite across more than 20 novels and two seasons of television.

To mark the bourbon’s release, Pine Bluffs Distilling will host a special event on Saturday, April 19, featuring an appearance by C.J. Box himself. Limited bottle sales will begin at 4:30 p.m., with purchases restricted to one bottle per attendee. Guests will also have the opportunity to have their bottles signed by the author during the event, which officially begins at 5 p.m.

Visit Cheyenne is offering round-trip transportation for the event. Tickets are $10 and will be credited toward purchases made at the distillery.

Founded in 2017, Pine Bluffs Distilling is a relatively new player in the Wyoming craft spirits scene. According to its website, the distillery was built on a foundation of innovation and local pride:

“We don’t come from a long legacy or a family name. For us, it’s about having the guts to do something new.”
